Last friday I had a fun shoot with Anica – she’s full of ideas, which makes it a little easier for me. My life is pretty full atm and I don’t feel all too creative. We came up with a kind of “Twenties” theme for the shoot, though not really authentic ;D Well, I experienced again why I’m not very comfortable with beauty shoots – thinking of new poses without anything is really hard. That’s absolutely something I have to work on. However, I love retouching beautyshoots!

Almost the whole series was shot with modeling lamps because our flashes are kind of powerful and were too bright >.<

Everyone who is interested in taking photographs is bound to visit the “Landschaftspark in Duisburg” at least once. It’s an industrial ruin of an old steelfactory and really impressive! One can walk around the old machines and even climb a blast furnace. The Ruhrgebiet is famous for it’s former industry.

So, well, I had to take a look and asked a friend of mine who recently graduated as an actress if she wanted to come and take some pics. Sadly it rained heavily in between, but then, on the other hand, there were less photographers around. And there were still a lot.

The shoot taught me something (again – I’m learning something new with every shoot…): know your location. We spend a whole lot of time running around and scouting. Honestly, when shooting with more outfits, concept and additional light, invest the time to scout your location BEFORE shooting. It really helps.

Duisburg 2012

We had some really hot days in March, and this was the time I shot these pictures with Janina. I was kind of not-creative by then, so I was really glad she suggested a location and told me that she’d like to shoot with ballons. In the end I hat as many pictures as I didn’t get for a long time ;D

Ah well, having a rail track around the corner that’s not in use is always nice. Sometimes it doesn’t have to be the BIG location to be happy. I’m working on making her fly on a picture.

This shooting is also a result of my cosplay-shooting-call. It actually was in broad daylight, but I’m really lucky that my boyfriend owns portable and powerfull flashes^^ We shot in a street and, of course, got grumbled at by some resident of a house nearby. She maybe thought we were taking pictures for google or something oO dunno.

Wuppertal 2012

Somehow Anja and I arranged our testshooting on Altweiber – which is one of the most active Carneval days in Germany…It was really hard to get there by train with all the dressed up (and drunken) people. We actually want to do a dancing-photoshoot when it’s warmer, but we thought it would be nice to get to know each other before.

A short while ago I asked via my cosplayblog who was interested in shooting a little, as I like off-convention shoots more than when running around through loads of people, having no real time to talk and rushing a shoot on a convention. I fixed dates for some shoots instantly and this one was the first! Whoa it was so cold. Vesta did a really good job considering -6 degrees (Celsius) and her rather small dress. We did a shoot in an old laundry building which was really interesting (and dirty…).

Each Winter I’m fascinated by frost. Those tiny little stars, so perfect and so beautiful! How they are sparkling in the sun…my dad calls it “treasures for dwarfs”. Everytime when it’s freezing I think of taking my camera whith me on my way to work, and everytime I’m too lazy. Until this week. It hasn’t been very winterly this year, and the weatherforcast tells us winter will not come. So I kicked myself in my butt to finally take the camera.

I must admit that I took my camera for this walk only because I wanted to take a picture of a letterbox for the imprint page, and I had to throw in a letter anyway. However, we decided to walk a little further and it was really nice. Sunny days are nearly always beautiful – I dislike them only in full summer because I can’t cope with heat. Some things that hopped in my mind while walking and watching were hard to shoot because I only brought my 85mm lens – For some stuff I was really sad that I didn’t bring the macro. But that wouldn’t spoil the fun all too much.

The moment I saw Orsi, I knew I had found Snow White. Fairytales always had a kind of fascination on me…the traditional ones, not Disney. They use magic without using it, it’s just there, it happens and has no silly wand-waving (quote Snape ;D). I was really glad that Orsi went to shoot with me because it was really cold, it rained and I only had a light tafetta dress for her…in the end, I love how the pictures came out, almost everyone. That’s really, really rare.

Silvia is a dear friend of mine and shares one of my most valued hobbies. This was the time when I began to take pictures of her in costume. She has always been one of my favourite models, and I’m glad I finally got some nice pictures of her in ordinary clothing.
